Subcontract Claims Tab
Overview:
This function is accessed from the Subcontract List by selecting an existing Subcontract and then navigating to the Claims tab. This tab shows all claims for this subcontracts with summarised data and links to the claim details. You can view claims from all subcontracts on the same screen using Subcontract Claims.
If you are utilising Subcontract Users, they should be instructed to use their Portal Claims tab to submit claims for your review, and you can click on the submitted claim No.  Otherwise, you can create claims based on the data sent by a subcontractor yourself using + New Claim.
Workbench uses the industry standard Claim to Date method for all claims, meaning that you (or the subcontractor) must enter how much of the total value or quantity has been completed up to this claim. This is different from entering the amount for only this claim. Workbench will calculate the difference between the Certified to Date amount and how much is entered in the Claim to Date field to arrive at the This Claim amount.
Screen Guide:
New claims can be created by clicking + New Claim, and then following the Create/Edit Subcontract Claim prompts.
Claims are displayed in No order, starting with the first and then continuing on for all claims. This field also serves as a link to edit or view the details of existing claims.
Invoice No is the reference given when creating a claims. By default, Workbench takes the Subcontract Number and adds the claim number to the end.
Date is the date that the claim was created.
Batched signifies when the claim has been included in a batch for transfer to the financial system, and the Batch No shows which batch it is contained in. Batch 210000 is the default "holding" batch for all unprocessed claims.
It is important to note the distinction between Claimed and Certified amounts:
Claimed is the amount that the subcontractor is claiming to be paid. This amount may be subjective or based on quantity surveyor measurements.
Certified is the amount that you are approving to be paid. This amount can differ from the amount that was claimed due to several reasons, and you may be required to include these reasons in the payment summary depending on the law or act the claim sits under.
To Date figures are rolling totals of how much has been claimed from all Work Orders up to the claim being viewed.
Retentions are amounts being withheld until the agreed retention period has ended. This amount can then be claimed and subsequently released via Subcontract Retention Management.
You can find the grand Total figures at the bottom of the grid for all claims that have been made. If there are too many claims to be displayed on one page, you can use the Page arrows to navigate between the different pages of claims.

Q: Why can't I create a new claim?
A: Ensure that the Subcontract Signed Date on the Subcontract Dates tab is populated with a date before the first claim date. This is enforced by a Control Parameter.
