Home
Overview:
This is the screen that you will see upon logging in to Workbench. On the left side of the screen you will see a collapsible menu called the Site Map. At the top of the menu is a search bar that you can use if you know the name of the page you are looking for, otherwise you can use the menu which contains all of the modules of Workbench that your User is allowed to view. All examples in this guide assume full permissions and access, but if you cannot access something you believe you need, please contact your administrator. The Home Site Map item provides a quick method to return to the starting dashboard of Workbench, which is the same as clicking on the top-left-hand corner where the Workbench logo is.
On the top bar you will notice a question mark, a bell icon, and your name with a dropdown:
The question mark provides access to contextually sensitive help for the screen you are currently on. The help documentation will display in a new tab so that your place in the application is retained. The ? may be disabled (grey) if contextual help is not currently available. A question mark will also be displayed on popup windows to provide help for that specific context.
The bell icon is where notifications will appear from various parts of Workbench. Clicking the icon will drop down a list of notifications along with the option to go to the Discussions page by clicking "See all notifications."
To the right where your username is (the Profile menu), you can drop down the menu to display options such as changing your password, viewing which authorities you have, adding a written signature (for touch screens) as well as an email signature. You will also find persistent links to page parameters, a link to this help guide, release notes, End-User Licence Agreement, and the logout function.
At the top of the Dashboard you will notice search bars for People (basic contact information for internal and external contacts), Companies (basic details of companies in Workbench), File Attachments (searching for specific attachments), and Jobs, giving you the ability to quickly search for any one of these items.
Tiles
In the centre of the Dashboard there will be some standard tiles, but this area is completely customisable for each user. If you want to remove a tile, click and begin dragging the tile until you see a bin icon appear where the plus icon normally appears and continue dragging it to the bin, then release the button. If you are on a touch screen, you can press and hold, then drag the tile in the same way. To create new tiles, you simply locate the Site Map item in the menu that you wish to create a tile for and drag it into the Dashboard. You can also click the plus icon to add any website as a tile, not just in Workbench. You also have the ability in the Job, People, Companies, and Invoices List pages to create a shortcut of a specific filter combination by clicking on the down arrow next to "Apply Filter", select "Create Tile", give it a name, and a new tile will be created linking to whatever filter combination you had when you saved it.
Tiles are also able to be moved and coloured to your preference. Simply click and hold (or press and hold) on the very top left-hand corner of the tile you wish to change. This drops down a colour palette for you to choose from. To reorder your tiles, simply click and drag elsewhere on the tile and move it to the desired location. Tiles will automatically resort themselves depending on where you move the tile to.
