EBA Schemes are used to collect EBA Profiles into a group which can then be applied to a job. Normally, profiles are assigned to individual Users, but in situations where the job they work on changes their award or entitlements, especially with the structure of overtime awarded, schemes are used to trigger those alternative profiles. Schemes override any default profiles assigned to the timesheet user, and can direct profiles based on the user's Employee Class.

For example, your company may have two different EBA structures that your employees work between, EBA 1 and EBA2. When an employee works on EBA 1, they are on an 8 hour shift with excess paid to overtime, and EBA 2 they are on a 12 hour shift with breaks. We need to set up two different EBA Profiles that cater to the different requirements, and then add these profiles to two different Schemes. The appropriate Schemes are then added to their respective jobs in Job Maintenance so that any time a user enters a timesheet against that job, it will direct that time to the correct profile for processing during the EBA Interpreter step.

Note that Job Tags from the Profile and the Maintenance settings will also be taken into account when interpreting timesheets.

For advanced setups where employees need to switch classes as well as profiles, we can expose the employee class field in Timesheet Administration using Grid Management, or Labour Costing Groups can be considered.

When setting up an EBA in Workbench for the first time, it is important to consider whether Schemes are necessary considering there are Job/Employee Tags available to guide which allowances should be given based on jobs or the person themself.

Screen Guide:

The initial screen simply lists existing schemes, with the Description field acting as the link to the scheme's editing view. You can create new schemes by clicking + New EBA Scheme.

Above is a basic example of a scheme where different EBA Profiles are assigned to different Employee Classes.

As an example, when this scheme is attached to a job, any timesheet user with an employee class of MAP01 - Maintenance Apprentice that puts time to that job will be assigned the Apprentices profile during the EBA Interpreter step. Any user with the LAB02 class however will use the Standard Profile instead.
