Plant Meter Readings
Overview:
Enter Plant Meter Readings for multiple Plant itmes, once the plant item’s initial meter reading setup has been done through the Plant item itself.
Screen Guide:
View existing meter readings or enter new ones.
When a meter is first set up on a vehicle, there will be an initial meter reading. This needs to be entered as a meter reading for the Plant Item, and the total distance traveled or time run by the plant at the time of that reading needs to be manually entered into the Meter Cumulative Life to Date.
e.g. a second hand vehicle has been purchased. The current meter reading is 20,000 Kms but you know it has traveled 220,000 Kms. The Meter Cumulative Life to Date value would be manually entered as 220,000 and the opening meter reading would be entered as 20,000.
The Assumed Daily Rate on the meter entry is always 0.00 for the first entry, as there is no history upon which to base this calculation. The Assumed Daily Rate will be automatically calculated and updated by subsequent entries
The Cumulative Meter value will display the Meter Cumulative Life to Date value from the Plant Meters screen for this meter.
Please note that only one meter reading per day is allowed.

Use Case examples
User Case 1: The meter is broken and they need to change it out Â
Say we are replacing the meter with a meter that already has a reading of 50,000 kms. The plant has already travelled a cumulative 15,120.00 kmsÂ
Can’t create a new meter of the same typeÂ
Make a 50,000 meter reading marked ‘Change Out’, the cumulative remains 15,120.00 with a note.Â
When the operator next takes a reading after travelling 120kms, so the meter reads 50120, the cumulative will calculate as 15,240.00.Â
Â
User Case 2: The meter clocks at 9999999 and resets to 0 on it's own.Â
Say the meter configuration indicates it clocks at 99,999 kms.
Also say we now have a last reading of 99,900 kms with a cumulative of 65,020.Â
Say we travel a further 280km but since the meter clocks at 99,999 the reading we records is 180.Â
When we type in 180, the reading is auto marked as ‘Clocked’ because if is less then the previous.
On save the cumulate is increased by 280 to 65,299.00 (nb. seems to be under counting by 1), and a note appended.
Â
User Case 3: Initialise Service history and Next service details
The system requires a first Service with a first meter reading to be recorded against a Plant item, so it can populate the Next Service (date and kms/hours till next service is due), Status (Reminder, Due, Booked, Overdue, etc), Days Due and Meter Due.
A first Service can be entered as:
A manual Meter Reading with type = Service (either from Meter Readings or from the Meters section on the Plant item) or
A Service Log with a type of Scheduled Service (which will create a Meter reading with a type = Service).
