Overview

This page outlines the comprehensive tasks and activities of plant management, from assignment to depreciation.

 

  • The module setup must be completed beforehand.

  • A plant may have its own budget.

  • Plants can be charged to both internal and external companies.

  • The revenue from the plant is not included in the Job budget.

  • A plant issue is used to charge a job by using plant items, while plant assignment is related to the plant side.

  • Plant issues can also be entered through timesheets and daysheets entries.

  • Plant issues must be processed in a batch. After issuing a plant to the desired batch(es), the GL journals can be exported using Export Control.

  • Adjustments are available for correcting or reversing plant transactions after they are locked.

  • Add and list plant items.

Plant Items can have budgets used for maintenance, upgrades, or modifications. You can allocate anticipated labour and part costs and compare your actual expenditures against the budget.

  • Create or edit Plant budget.

  • Tracking details of Plant activities and related costs in lines.

  • Note that revenue is not included in plant budgets.

In Workbench, "Plant Depreciation" is the process of revaluing a plant item according to a depreciation schedule. The action is:

  • Set up/modify depreciation for plants.

Note that this action can also be carried out during the Month End process.

This is used to schedule the plant usage.

  • Install new meter.

  • Record the maintenance session.

  • Schedule the maintenance.

An initial meter reading of the plant item is necessary prior to its use. Additionally, this meter reading is required when replacing the meter. During this, additional actions might be involved:

  • Raise a purchasing.

  • Create an invoice to charge for the maintenance.

All maintenance activities are located on a single screen called Maintenance logs.

  • Temporary suspension of plant-related activities for various reasons.

  • A plant in stand-down will not generate a Plant Issue Transaction, nor can it be converted into a Plant Issue during the stand-down period.

The Plant Budget helps gauge plant costs for a job, allowing you to track of Plant expenses.

Please note that within Workbench, the Plant issue is solely for charging jobs to Plant usage; it does NOT serve as a log for Plant issues like malfunctions.

Workbench provides tools for logging stand downs, recording reasons, and tracking their duration. It helps organizations analyse downtime patterns and improve operational efficiency.
