VisionLink Integration
Overview:
VisionLink is Caterpillar’s cloud-based fleet management and telematics software to track heavy equipment and job site assets. It supports an entire fleet regardless of brand or ownership, as a solution that integrates with Caterpiller and other popular OEM telematic devices.
Note the client needs to obtain the API access credentials from their Caterpiller dealer first. The VisionLink API credentials are required to setup the Workbench VisionLink Integration.
Screen Guide:
The VisionLink Integration screen is accessed from the main menu in Workbench under the Plant - Plant Setup folder, and gives you a visual overview of configuration for the selected Financial Company. Integration with VisionLink telematics systems provides a scheduled import of plant meter readings and locations of the managed plant.
A. Enable the 'VisionLink Enabled' setting, this is required for the sync schedule and [Import] button test. VisionLink Integration is per Financial Company, so select the applicable FinCo for the Plant.
B. VisionLink identifies assets using a Tracking ID. If your assets use the same code in both VisionLink and Workbench, simply tick the 'Use Item Codes as Tracking IDs' option. If they differ, use the 'Import Telematics Tracking IDs' import to load the Item Code - Tracking ID mapping before connecting.
C. Click [Connect to VisionLink] and a popup will display prompting for the VisionLink API credentials. Specify these and click [Authorise] to setup the connection.
D. Click [Test] to verify the credentials and connection, this displays “Success: Connected to VisionLink” on a successful test.
E. Click [Import] if you want to trigger an immediate import. This will display details regarding the number of processed calls and any specific errors or failures that need to be attended to. By default the import is scheduled once a day for 05:00.
Data Syncs:
Meter Readings - Reading sync’d via the API will be annotated with “VisionLink” and a correlation batch identifier and displayed in the Reading’s Notes field.
Location - Locations sync’d via the API will be annotated with the {wifi icon} on the Plant popup details on the Plant Map.
